  How to INSTALL & TEST
  Dialogic boards using the
  sample applications.
 
 




We suggest you use Win NT 4 or Win 2000

(PCI Boards will not work with Win 95 or DOS)

INSTALLATION

 Insert the board in the slot making sure it is inserted properly.

 Connect one telephone line to the topmost jack on the board.
 3
 From the System Release CD run SETUP.  This will install the driver and other programs.
 4
 A pop-up window will ask whether to run the Dialogic Configuration Manager (DCM).  Click the check-box and press next.
 5
 The next pop-up window will ask whether to connect to the device (i.e. the board).  Press Connect.

 The board will come up in the DCM window (except for boards D/21H, D/41H, Dialog/4; for these see ERRORS below).

 Press the Start Service button.  You will see a message: Dialogic System 
Service Status: Running.  This means that the board is installed properly.

 Now press the Stop Service button and you will see a message: Dialogic 
System Service Status : Stopped.

 Go to FILE and click Exit to come out of the DCM window.
 
 ERRORS
Conflict at 
memory ...
 Verify whether the BASE ADDRESS specified in the thick sheet enclosed with the Board (or the Dialogic Manual) matches the one set in the software and the hardware.  The default Base Address is D000.  You can change the Base Address from Start> Programs> Dialogic System Software> DIALOGIC CONFIGURATION MANAGER (DCM).  Do not start the Service.  Now click on the CONFIGURE DEVICE push-button to change the base address. 

The hardware base address is changed by the jumper settings specified in the thick sheet.  Note that the address you set in hardware and software MUST be the same. 
IRQ Clash
 Verify whether the IRQ settings in the software match the settings specified in the manual/ thick sheet.  IRQ settings are generally 5 or 7 or 10.  In PCI cards you cannot alter the IRQs.  If IRQ clashes with the other peripherals then change the settings in the board as well as in the software.  You can change the IRQ settings in the board by altering the jumper settings as specified in the manual.  In software, you can change it by going to DIALOGIC CONFIGURATION MANAGER (DCM).  Now click on the CONFIGURE DEVICE push-button.
D/21H, D/41H
or Dialog/4
 If your board is a D 21/H or D 41/H or Dialog/4.
These are non-BLT (Board Locating Technology) which means they do NOT get detected automatically.  These boards have to be added manually.  The Dialogic System Service should be off.  Go to the ACTION menu in the DCM.  Click ADD DEVICE.  Now select from the list D 21/H or  D41/H or Dialog/4.  In the SYSTEM window you will see Address (i.e. Base Address) and Interrupt Value.  Change the Base Address as per the default value specified in the thick sheet and the favourable Interrupt Value is 5 or 7 or 10 (as per the jumper settings of the Board).  Click APPLY then OK.  Now you will see the board listed in the DCM window.

  Start the DIALOGIC CONFIGURATION MANAGER (DCM).

  Select the push button with the green circle - START SERVICE

  Now once the message DIALOGIC SYSTEM  SERVICE STATUS : RUNNING gets 
 displayed minimize the DCM window.

  From DIALOGIC SYSTEM SOFTWARE select  DIALOGIC SAMPLE 
 PROGRAMS > VOICE HOROSCOPE.

  Go to pull-down menu - CHANNELS and click OPEN.

  Now dial the telephone number of telephone line you inserted into the Dialogic card. 
 You will hear the pre-recorded voice from the Dialogic Card.  Wait till it finishes 
 speaking and then dial 0304 and now you will hear the horoscope.  The test is over.

  Repeat the above to check for other channels.

RUNNING UDD (Universal Diagnostic)
The UDD tests thoroughly the entire board.  If you suspect the board has gone bad, then Start> Programs> Dialogic SS > UDD.   The service will go off.  Run ALL Tests.   This takes a few minutes.  Have a cup of tea.  If there is a problem, print the UDD report and keep it.   Email us at Dialogic@foremost-systems.com
