The Dialogic PromptMaster™ development tool solves your call processing
application testing problems by combining all the func-tions you need to
test your voice application in a convenient, easy-to-use package. Neatly
contained in a standard 2500-type telephone housing, the PromptMaster simplifies
voice application testing and prompt recording by eliminating the need
to assemble and adjust sev-eral different components. The PromptMaster
works with virtually all Dialogic analog, loop start, voice processing
equipment, regardless of operating system.
You can record voice prompts through the PromptMaster handset,
generate DTMF tones using the keypad, or push a button to send a ring voltage
to the voice board line interface. The three-position handset switch lets
you record at a normal volume, boost the volume, or silently monitor recording
or playback.
Since the PromptMaster uses a wall-mounted power supply, it also
provides loop current for direct connection to the voice board, thus eliminating
the need for an external connection to the central office during application
development. Additional input and output jacks let you load prerecorded
prompts into your system using standard audio sources, or you can play
back your application to external sources like a cassette tape recorder.
You can also use the PromptMaster for recording application prompts
after testing. The PromptMaster incorporates an amplified elec-tret microphone
that provides better reproduction quality than the standard carbon microphones
found in most telephones. It is an excellent choice when recording prompts
in end-user applications where prompts need to be updated frequently and
professionally recorded prompts would be too cost prohibitive.
Operation
To record prompts to a voice board using the handset, your typical
application waits for ring, goes off hook on the appropriate channel, then
records prompts using DTMF digits to control file recording, playback,
and other operations. To record these prompts using the PromptMaster, pick
up the handset and briefly press the RING button. Your application responds
by going off hook and initiating the record function. An indicator on the
front of the PromptMaster telephone lights when both the PromptMaster and
the voice channel are off hook. This indicates that loop current is flowing.
Now you can record your prompts by speaking directly into the handset.
To record your voice prompts using an external source such as
a cassette tape recorder, connect your external source to the PromptMaster
telephone via a standard MONO miniplug. To start recording, pick up the
handset and briefly press the RING button. Your application responds by
going off hook and initiating the record function. You can now record your
prompts directly from your external source.
The PromptMaster is manufactured for Dialogic by Sound America
of Savannah, Georgia, a leading manufacturer of audio equipment for the
broadcasting industry for over twelve years.
